The poodle has been bred in three size
varieties: standard, miniature, and toy. These may be any of a number
of colors, among them gray, white, black, brown, apricot, cream, silver,
blue and red.

 |
The standard Poodle stands more than 15
inches (38 cm) and is the oldest of the three varieties. It is closely
related to the Portuguese Water Dog and the Irish Spaniel.

The miniature is 10 to 15 inches (25.5
to 38 cm) high and because he was so easily trained, he became a favorite
circus performer. In the winter, his keen scenting nose had him searching
for delectable subterranean fungus called truffles. They are often
referred to as Mini Poodles.

 |
The toy is under 10 inches (25.5 cm) and
has been very popular in England.
|
There is also a "teacup" or "pocket" Toy.
Weight variations for the three official sizes range from as much as 70
pounds (32 kg) to as little as 7 pounds (3 kg).
